6. Are Moderates and Minorities being overlooked by the Conservatives?
I must hand it to the GOP; they are serious about purifying their ranks. I wish we would do a little housekeeping on the Blue Team ourselves because anyone can put on a “D” jersey then slam President Obama all day long. With friends like you, we don’t need the other political side. On the national level and in Georgia, GOP moderates were forced to shape up or ship out. Quick: name a Georgia GOP moderate leader?
That situation is a shame because national parties should have a range of thoughts at the discussion table. If they keep that hardcore mentality, their suitability to lead a diverse superpower will be jeopardized. In other words, that angry cowboy mentality is not healthy.
Moderates and minorities are being pushed out as the Far Right elbows their way to the front. Will they hold their position inside the GOP, departed to become Blue Dogs or chill as Independents in the center? I am not saying you got to go home but…..
7. Are other nations receiving too much American time and resources while the homeland struggles?
We hear this question from regular folks in church parking lots and barber shops. As one of the only superpowers, the United States is involved in a range of activities around the world. At some point, citizens wonder why we are building infrastructure overseas as bridges, road and schools crumble here. Should they send HUD rather than DOD?
To be fair, President Obama ran on a soft power foreign affairs platform that focused on bread over bullets. I say teach a man to fish by exporting their agricultural knowledge. That idea creates new markets for our farm equipment, Ag chemicals and seeds while improving other parts of the world so people will stop trying to come here.
8. Can the political Center create a more functional form of moderation?
Centrists aren’t confused or wishy washy people in the political middle. Some people prefer public policy that includes good ideas from all sides. Black southerners who vote have always been moderate to conservative. Solutions for our community start in every individual home and center on personal decision making rather than governmental involvement. With public funding scarce, we must carry ourselves in a wiser manner–like the civil rights era folks did. We should think about what they could have done with the opportunities we squander.
Lenny McAllister wrote a great article on why he didn’t attend the Beck Rally. His points on the future of Black conservatives are masterful.

Slyram:
If I am a Black female, struggling in the Vine City section of Georgia. I voted for Obama because I had “hope” that my condition would “change” if he got into power and had a Democratic House and Senate. Locally I have a Democratic mayor, city council, GA State House & Senate Rep and US House Rep that represents my district in Washington DC. The only Republicans to speak of is my governor and 2 US Senators.
Question:
Should I withhold any criticism of Obama and the Democrats that I voted for in a sense of PARTY and RACIAL loyalties?
At what point does me silence indicate my complicity? My compromise of my own PERMANENT INTERESTS?
I love you brother – but at times you operate too much as an “inside man” – a “Party Man”.
We need to have our community’s interests clearly defined.
We need to have a TRANSPARENT system of appraisal of the “machines” (a body of methodologies & ideologies that purport to solve our problems) that stand in power over us.
I am not calling for the dissolution of parties. I am saying that the PARTY cannot be fused to become indistinguishable from the community.
When our interests are failed we can’t just “take one for the team” and try harder the next time.
This ONLY benefits the Party.
They will grow stronger while our interests continue to be trampled upon.
Unfortunately we have the combination of DESPERATION among our people and IMPLANTED OPERATIVES from the party that are distributing party and ideological messages directly to our people – causing them to continue along without setting up adequate safeguards, defending their interests from these double-agents.
CF: I don’t think party members should rubberstamp ever position of their leadership and I respect members of congress who vote their minds. My concern is based on voters being informed and not voting for a Republican or Democrat with the assumption that the general views apply to all. To be honesty, some Blue Dogs function with the knowledge that uniformed voters won’t check the record—as if they were pre-cleared.
President Obama filled his cabinet with former opponents because he said he wanted minds around the table that would bring constructive feedback rather that yesmen and yeswomen. Then, he searched for GOPers who would give such feedback—sometimes he got it and other times he didn’t. The line is crossed when party members get nasty and ugly so they can win elections. That’s to much for me and I rather have them gone.
I have a feeling Obama is sweating but sweating like a real man who presented his agenda and maybe someone else would be better suited to be president in two years. He is a proud guy and he might (per his wife’s recommendation) leave it for Hillary.
Pelosi can bounce and I could see Rep. Hoyer as the next elected speaker if the Dems hold the House.
