Former GOP congressman, turned author and T.V. guy Joe Scarborough has the formula for fixing his party and “hateorade” is not in the mix. In his new book, The Last Best Hope outlines a technique for debating issues in a substantive matter without the bitter temperament that helped drive America into President Obama loving arms. Is Obama the nicest person ever?
Scarborough always points out that President Reagan did not walk around with a heart full of hate like many leaders today. My personal list of cool temperament politicians from Georgia would include Senator Sam Nunn, Senator Johnny Isakson, and Rep. Sanford Bishop. The next group of Georgia GOP congressional leaders could include a woman or two with the same vibe if they were smart enough to look in the correct places.
FWIW, I have to agree with Scarborough on that. I’ve seen many conservatives get so riled up with vitriol at the mention of many liberal measures and they don’t understand that the venom doesn’t help, it only hurts and often hurts in permenant ways. It can run people off from a party like the GOP as a party that hates anything not of their ilk.
Not good for anyone.
Can the GOP seriously consider running you know who for president when this Joe Scarborough is sitting on the bench…right there….on the freaking bench? If the Dem Team were dreaming that “she” gets the GOP nomination, Joe would be the worst nightmare. As an American who really likes the current president, I am still obligated to hope that should the nation decide a conservative should be in the White House that person would be a responsible person with vision…like Joe…rather than you know who.
