To Jeff Sexton at SWGA Politics blog
Jeff: Did I just come home from church to see that Carlton Fletcher gave you and your blog mad love in his Sunday column in the Albany Herald? Wait just a cotton-picking minute; your meteoric blog just stepped in the game and already Fletcher is commenting on you.
Fletcher…Albany State Grad Fletcher…we when to the same college Fletcher…never read ProjectLogicGa.com produced by ASU grad me Fletcher. I tip the Panama hat I worn to church today (actually I got it in Ecuador) to you and SWGA Politics for the nod Fletcher gave you guys. And Carlton Fletcher was right about having a deep detailed newspaper in one’s hand—I still can’t believe that the AJC is not available in south Georgia anymore. When he wrote that he was not going to bank on the depth of reporting from anyone whose job description includes “getting your makeup right,” was he talking about you or the TV news reporters he mentioned. Lewis Grizzard is smiling on the other side about that line.
Fletcher’s article about “Bright Flight or White Flight” from Albany into Leesburg is an instant classic. In Worth County, we welcome those working in east Albany who seek a quieter community. Whom am I fooling; those kids (Black, White and Brown) with the booming car stereos are about to drive me into the rural area of Worth County.
If Fletcher reads this, he should tell Candace the Herald’s circulation department that I am again sorry for fussing about my paper not being in the box this morning; the thoughtful delivery person tossed it in the garage because someone who likely doesn’t read has been stealing my paper lately. The communities of Isabella, Acre and Ty Ty are starting to look pretty good these days.
I am no where near anybody’s journalist…I am just a guy venting and waiting for Sawgrass and the NBA to come on the tube.

Still… REALLY psyched that he even mentioned SWGA Politics! (Kinda wish he hadn’t mentioned my full name, but oh well!)
I mean, you’ve now got the Albany Herald talking about us in the same breath as both WALB and WFXL – and the fact that they’re even mentioning us AT ALL is pretty dang astounding!
They’re just scared of us 😉
It’s new media when the American President has Huffington Post and Politico in his press conferences and young people are getting their news from Colbert and John Steward. But, the recent national discussions about the downturn with newspapers are a real concern.
I love the depth of 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning reports and op-ed papers but recognize that the web also valid source of information.
Don’t get me started on real journalism’s code of conduct because I grew up when news reporters and anchors “reported” the news objectively like social scientists and academics reporting their findings.
Back in the day, Brinkley or Chancellor would report on Vietnam then turn to another camera, take off their glasses and “commentary” would be across the bottom of the screen before they gave their personal views.
National Fox News is so for the right that it is not funny and the same can be said about MSNBC for the left. Just tell me what happen and stop pushing an agenda.
It’s a dirty game.
Jeff and I both relayed our comments on SWGA Politics, but as for journalism and their code of conduct, that’s where I think Jeff and I have an advantage.
Being openly Libertarian, and it’s now mentioned on our About Us page, people know where the bias is going to come from, and can react accordingly. They can put on their Libertarian filter, just as on your blog we know you’re a Democrat and recognize that you’ll be coming from a Blue Dog Democrat slant.
Bias is normal. Journalism in the days of yore was actually against human nature. I personally think it’s better to just do away with pretending that we’re unbiased and just wear that bias on our sleeves.
So far, it seems to have worked for us 😉
I hear you man.

Yeah…I hate not being able to edit and hide mistakes 😉
Oh boy…I was up this morning helping my brother move out past Sherwood School so did not get to the paper until 30 mins ago. I posted this on your blog before coming here:
SWGAPolitics.com in the Albany Herald on the front page below the fold—stop being modest, guys and hoot your own horn. And the article was by Jeff and Tom’s best friend in journalism, Carlton Flecher no less. Thanks for giving Sylvester’s ProjectLogicGa.com a “shout out.” Did SWGAPolitics put Peach Pundit squarely in their crosshairs? “Just what makes that little old ant, think he can move that rubber tree plant….”
Congrats, Guy. And watch out Huffington Post.
