When Newt Gingrich and company produced the Contract with America in 1994, they had a plan for the direction and function of government. I had to take a picture with this Georgian because he was our speaker and a serious policy thinker. Democrats should know that Newt is currently mixing and brewing in the lab and the potion he produces next will be a substantive knockout.
Republican Rep. Paul Ryan made a lot of common sense on MSNBC this morning. Ryan is the Ranking Minority member of the House Budget Committee and he has an actual plan. He should be one of the new leaders of their party. Ryan is a former senior congressional staffer so he knows the system and knows the game.
I think Paul Ryan should serve as a reasonable counterbalance to Democrat well-intented, fiscally questionable spending. President Obama might have too much to the table at one time because the congressional leaders want to address all of the issues that the previous president put on the back burner while dealing with the War on Terror. Actually, Obama needs Ryan to keep the checkbook balanced. I say Ryan and Obama should develop a working relationship to circumvent the party jostling.
Ryan, who was born in 1970, could make himself a future president by constructively analyzing Obama plans. Black voters could remember that this young fellow stepped up in a positive way to adjust and criticize the first Black President’s plans. The Blue Dog Democrats should work with Ryan as much as possible.
During the debate/fight over the Contract with America (Contract on America to the Dem Team), Project Logic Ga ghost contributor Coastalmom and I had plenty knock down/ drag outs discussions in the Rayburn House Office Building cafeteria.
I can honestly say I came away with a better understanding of the GA GOP mentality and point of view but she left with frozen yogurt. I still don’t understand why the most GOPers thinks all Democrats are ultra-liberals; maybe it’s the constant diet of talk radio and frozen yogurt that makes them so cold.
Note to Coastalmom: Blue Dogs Democrats are within your party’s reach if you stop with the FOX News driven name calling. Watch CNN sometimes but take MSNBC in limited measured quantity are your head might explode.
Ryan’s a smart guy, he’s going to go places.
Okay, clearly I was not a great writer. But, one day I am going to the Post Office for the daily class reunion, to the BP station for some fake French Vanilla coffee and then I am going to sit at this computer and write a post called “Stack the Deck.”
Preview: The result of every election should a decent person in office. During the presidential election, I was cool when we got down to Clinton, Edwards, Obama, Romney, McCain and Huckabee because I could see any of them being my president.
(Peace to the Dems who don’t like me saying that; you don’t pay my bills; no one pays my bills; including me lol).
Every year I want UGA, Ga Tech or my Florida Gators playing each other in the national championship in football and in every election, I hope both sides produce candidates suitable to serve.
Of course, diehard partisans want the other side to push a primary winner (president, House, Senate, governor whatever) who can be beaten easily in November. That is a messed-up mentality because we might ended up with a badly chosen official.
Yes, I want an Obama second term. If that is not going to happen, let the next president be a good one. (I am getting tired of people beating up on my brother in the White House. So this is how it feels.)

I am telling you’ll: don’t sleep on Paul Ryan.
Yesterday, President Obama said Paul Ryan is the type conservative with whom he could work to move the nation forward. Check the date on this blog post.
I called it during March 2009.
